Adam Jaworski is Professor of Language and Communication at the School of English, University of Hong Kong and member of the Hong Kong Academy for the Humanities. He formerly taught at Adam Mickiewicz University, Birkbeck College, and Cardiff University. He has published on topics such as language and globalisation, display of languages in space, media discourse, silence, nonverbal communication, and text-based art. His most recent publications include The Discourse Reader, 3rd edition (Routledge, 2014), a special issue of the Journal of Sociolinguistics on Sociolinguistics and Tourism (2014), and a special issue of Social Semiotics on Typographic Landscaping (2015). He serves on the editorial board of several journals including Journal of Sociolinguistics; Discourse & Society; Multilingua; Journal of Language and Politics; Linguistic Landscape; Language and Intercultural Communication; Visual Communication; and book series Bloomsbury Advances in Critical Discourse Studies (Bloomsbury Academic). He co-edits the Oxford University Press book series, Oxford Studies in Sociolinguistics.
